College Description
Discover Geology: The Science of Earth
Curious about how the Earth works? From volcanoes and earthquakes to fossils, rivers, minerals and rocks—geology helps us understand the natural forces shaping our world.
In this hands-on program, you'll explore Earth's history and structure while learning how geologists use tools like fieldwork, and lab analysis, and computer modeling to solve real-world problems. You'll study topics like:
· Minerals and rock
· Natural hazards and disasters
· Environmental protection and land use
· Natural resources like water, minerals, and energy
Geologists are in demand across industries—environmental consulting, construction, mining, oil and gas, government, land use planning, and more. Whether you're just starting out or exploring a new career, geology offers a path to meaningful work that impacts communities and the planet.
If you are not interested in getting a geology degree but you like nature, hiking, camping, protecting the environment, off-road driving, etc.; taking an elective geology class would be very beneficial in enhancing your personal life, especially living in Arizona.
Start your journey beneath the surface—and shape the future above it.
